Coaching Information

Police Checks (JLMSA Policy)

For the safety of the children, the JLMSA requires all coaches to complete a Police Record Check: Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) for Volunteers.  This is a small cost of money and time to assist us in keeping our children safe. This is an annual process that even returning coaches are to complete. We are a small community where most of us know each other, but it is due diligence by the JLMSA that is expected by everyone to keep our kids safe.

All information is kept strictly confidential.

How To Apply

Police Checks can be obtained from Niagara Police either in person at your local police station or online. Niagara Police do NOT recommend you apply online if you:

  • Have lived in Canada for less than one (1) year, and/or;
  • Are under the age of twenty-one (21) years, and/or;
  • Have no established personal credit history - i.e. no credit cards, bank loans, mortgage, etc. - that is required in order to authenticate (verify) your identification online.

If one of those situations apply to you, please use the in-person process to obtain a police record check.

In-Person Process

When applying in-person, you will need to visit your local police station during daytime business hours.

  1. Fill out the Police Record Check Form to apply for a Police Vulnerable Sector Check.

  2. Bring the completed Police Record Check form along with two pieces of photo identification to your local Police Station.

  3. The cost is $20.00. Payment must be made by Debit, Visa or Mastercard. They no longer accept cash.

  4. Once notified by the NRPS (Niagara Regional Police Services) you can pick up your completed Police Check. You must bring two pieces of photo identification.

  5. Notify president@jordanlionssoftball.com to hand in your completed Police Check.

Online Process

When applying online, all aspects of the process - including verification of your identification, and fee payment - are handled electronically. You can apply any time, 24 hours per day, without needing to visit a police station.

  1. Please visit the Police Solutions website to apply online for a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).

  2. The cost is $20.00 plus an online processing fee of $9.95. Payment must be made by Visa or Mastercard.

  3. Once completed, your police background documents will be mailed to you in a confidential envelope.

  4. Notify president@jordanlionssoftball.com to hand in your completed Police Check.

For any questions about the police check process, please visit the Niagara Police website or contact backgroundchecks@niagarapolice.ca.

Thank you for your co-operation.
